JADE, THE FRENCH VOLUNTEER GIRL IN THE BURREN NATURE SANCTUARY

Hello everyone! 🐑

My name is Jade, I'm from Val d'Oise near Paris and I'm very happy to work at the Burren Nature Sanctuary for 2 months. Passionate about nature and aiming to improve my English, this internship is the perfect place to achieve my goals.  You can find me at the reception on weekends from 10am to 5pm!

My internship in this idyllic place started in April. To introduce you to the Burren Nature Sanctuary, it is an interpretive centre of the natural history of the Burren which offers a unique experience of the landscape of this region. The Burren Nature Sanctuary is located at Cloonasee - meaning Fairy Meadow - just outside the village of Kinvara, County Galway, along the Wild Atlantic Way.

Set on a 50-acre biological site, the Burren Nature Sanctuary features unique Burren habitats of limestone, ancient woodland and a rare disappearing lake. The meadow is home to wildflowers and orchids in season. You can also meet farm animals that will be delighted to lick your hand (filled with food) and enjoy a cup of artisanal coffee or homemade cakes.

The owners of this place, Mary and Roy Bermingham are passionate about nature. They are extremely dedicated to the well-being of their animals. You can experience a walk in the fairy forest with Emilia the pig, the Burren Nature Sanctuary's mascot.

I am delighted to share with you my daily life at the Burren Nature Sanctuary and I will advise you in  future posts, good tips to discover the Irish culture from all points of view: natural and cultural places, gastronomy etc.

I also invite you to listen to the podcasts created by Mary on Spotify or Apple, under the name "Nature Magic" and to read her book "Nature Magic: How You Can Engage Everyone With Biodiversity". A wonderful way to learn more about ecology and get your eyes and ears used to English!

See you soon, with my friend Frank the Lama for new adventures!
