First Steps in Becoming a Mini Pig Owner
Thinking of bringing a mini pig into your life? At Burren Nature Sanctuary, we offer well-socialised, ethically raised mini pigs from the only official European partner of Kew Little Pigs, the UK’s leading experts in micro pig breeding.
1) Have you space?
Pigs can come in the house but you will neeed an outside space of at least 5 x 8 m
3) Choose your piglets
Pigs are happier in pairs When course is complete you will have access to the current stock list and can place your deposit
4) Apply for a pig license
It is a legal requirement to have a pig license. Contact your local Department of Agriculture.
5) Create the living quarters
All details in the pig keepers course
6) Premises inspection
Your local Department of Agriculture vet will inspect the premises before granting your license.
7) Find a local vet
You will need a vet on arrival
Burren Nature Sanctuary can arrange castration for males prior to departure.
8) Arrange Transport
We will arrange transport and any necessary paperwork
9) Welcome your piggies home
Not too many visitors for the first couple of weeks
